11月22日下午，应大连理工大学外国语学院、教务处、教师发展中心的邀请，加拿大阿尔伯塔大学Stephen Kunts 副主任来我校做了题为“Work Hard but Work Smart：Chinese Students in a Western University”的专题讲座。
Stephen Kunts的讲座以智慧学习为切入点，基于自身近30年的丰富的教学经验，主要从中国留学生的思维方式、英语口语表达的学习策略定位、阅读范围选择、词汇使用方式训练、思辨性写作方法等角度，运用教学实践中的真实案例，对中国留学生在海外学习生活中遇到的普遍困难及其对策进行讲解，并与广大师生进行了热烈的讨论。其中，Stephen Kunts关于“舒适感”与“自信心”的讲解，精彩生动，深受听众们的喜爱，引起了广泛共鸣。此次讲座内容讨论了中国英语学习者普遍关心的问题，与教师的外语教学工作和学生们的外语学习及海外留学生活息息相关，受到广大师生的热烈欢迎，大家受益良多。
Stephen Kunts现任阿尔伯塔大学写作资源与学生发展中心副主任，目前已在阿尔伯塔大学任教25年，主要从事英语语言文学专业和国际留学生的写作指导等教学工作。曾于1986年至1988年任教于内蒙古师范大学，与中国结下了深厚的情缘，一直关注中国学生的海外发展。
外国语学院副院长李秀英教授主持此次讲座，外国语学院部分教师、英语专业、翻译专业的本科生、外国语语言文学学科的研究生、翻译硕士专业学位研究生、部分非英语专业本科生参加了此次讲座。
